Grand Canyon National Park: A Natural Wonder

grand-canyon-national-parkConsidered one of the natural wonders of the world because of its natural geological features, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona receives close to 5 million visitors annually. At 277 river miles long and at times 18 miles wide and 1 mile deep, this national landmark is truly breathtaking. There is plenty to do and see here and many ways to do it.

On the South Rim, which is open year round, a great way to get down and see the canyon is a mule trip. You can take the Canyon Vistas Ride, a 3 grand-canyon-muleshour ride around the rim of the canyon. If you feel like spending the night, the Overnight Ride takes you to the bottom where you will stay at the Phantom Ranch.

The Trail of Time, a geology exhibit that opened in 2010 is a great way to learn about the past of the canyon and its formations over time. Walking west from the Yavapai Geology Museum you go backwards in time, from the present to the canyon’s beginnings, while walking east you experience it from past to present. Stop and check out historic Grand Canyon Village, it is situated about halfway from each side.

grand-canyon-colorado-riverIf you want a more adventurous view of Grand Canyon National Park, there are whitewater trips lasting from 3-18 days or half-day smooth water trips from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry, and those can be arranged by any Lodge in the park, but the whitewater tours will require a reservation. For a more leisurely experience, you can book one of the more relaxing rowing excursions.

A great way to visit Grand Canyon National Park is to buy an Arizona timeshare resale. Premier Timeshare Resale and our knowledgeable agents can help you find a vacation property and save you time and money. Contact us and let us help you find a vacation ownership today.

Zion: Experience Utah’s First National Park

Zion National Park 1Zion National Park, located in Utah just north of the Arizona border, is the state’s oldest and most popular national park. The park, centered by the Zion Canyon which cuts through red colored Navajo Sandstone, is a must see for any nature lover planning a trip to Utah. With mountains, canyons, rivers, and natural arches being just a few of the amazing natural things, it is well worth visiting time and time again.

The Kolob Canyons section of the park is a great way to explore the more serene side of Zion. Much quieter than the Zion Canyon section, it is perfect for those looking for a little more solitude. Experience natural cascading falls, canyon streams, and amazing peaks over twenty miles of trails for you to traverse and enjoy.

Zion National Park NarrowsIf you would like to see Zion National Park’s most popular attraction, Zion Canyon, A hike through The Narrows is a great way to do so. This narrowest section of Zion Canyon, with its thousand foot high walls can be seen by walking a wheelchair accessible walk for a mile, or by hiking the actual Virgin River, but note that you will be getting wet, and maybe even wading in some spots.

If you are a canyoneer, or interested in canyoneering, Zion National Park is a wonderful place to explore. Canyoneering, an activity that involves rappelling, hiking, swimming, and problem solving is a challenging and fun way to enjoy the outdoors. Visit The Narrows above The Temple of Sinawava to get an introduction to the slot canyons of the park.

The United States has a vast array of destinations for those who like to be in the outdoors. Snowboarding, skiing, camping, fishing and boating are all great ways to get out and see the water, countrysides and hilltops. One fast growing way to explore all of these things is on a mountain bike. There are trails around the U.S. for mountain biking beginners to seasoned riders, and here are some of the best.

Crested Butte-mountain biking Crested Butte, Colorado has been a popular mountain biking destination since the 1970s and is host to the Fat Tire Bike Week, the oldest biking festival in the country. More than 750 miles of trails dot the countryside, ranging from easy trails winding across the landscape to difficult rides climbing to 13,000 feet. The Evolution Bike Park features 30 miles of downhill and cross country trails. The town itself is small and quaint, with friendly locals and delicious eateries.

Park City-mountain bikingKnown worldwide as a premier winter destination, Park City, Utah offers a lot more than downhill winter sports and the famous Sundance Film Festival. With over 400 miles of interconnected single track trails, it is no wonder Park City was named a gold status ‘Ride Center” by the International Mountain Bicycling Association. There is something for everyone here, lift assisted riding, gorgeous cross country to challenging inclines and descents. Stop by main street for some great grub and some drinks.

Moab-mountain bikingThe red rocks of Moab, Utah are a site to behold, and there is no better way to experience them than riding them. It’s possible to ride Moab year round, but the best time is in spring and summer. Hit some of the beginner or more advanced trails or ride The Whole Enchilada, which starts at 1,000 feet, climbs you to 1,400 feet, and descends you over several trails and terrain. You can ride to the magnificent Arches National park, but bikes are only allowed on the roads once you arrive. There are many microbrews and fantastic dining in the area after a long day of riding.
