Glacier National Park: A Gorgeous Slice of Montana

Glacier National Park - Lake McDonaldLocated in picturesque Montana, Glacier National Park, straddling the United States-Canadian border, is a must see for any nature lover. With over 760 lakes, amazing mountain peaks, beautiful waterfalls, and many hiking trails, there is plenty to see and do at this destination which is truly a national treasure.

President Taft established Glacier National Park as the 10th national park in 1910. With 3.3 million annual visitors in 2017, Glacier sees fewer adventurers than it’s Wyoming-Montana-Idaho cousin: Yellowstone, but it still makes the “Top 10” list of most visited national parks.

Glacier National Park - Grinell Glacier

Grinell Glacier

It is called Glacier National Park, so make sure to take in one of the 25 remaining glaciers; some predictions say they may be gone by 2020. Sperry and Grinnell are fairly accessible and a sight to behold.

Take a bike ride to the Going to the Sun Road and witness 52 miles of breathtaking views. If you don’t feel like pedaling, take a drive, or hop on of the famous 1930s era red buses. With 33 buses in their fleet, these historic rides are possibly the oldest fleet of touring vehicles in the world.

Glacier National Park also has a diverse population of wildlife. Majestic prairie elk, mountain goats and bighorn sheep are just a few of the animals you may see. The park also is home to the largest population of grizzly bears in the lower 48 states, so you may have a run in, just be safe.
