Wyndham Governor’s Green: Review

This summer my husband’s family met for a 10 day family reunion in Williamsburg, Virginia. We do these get-togethers every two years as he and his four siblings live in five different states. Each reunion is held at a different property in the Club Wyndham timeshare collection and this year we stayed at Wyndham Governor’s Green.

Governor's Green Master Bedroom

Governor’s Green Master Bedroom

We have stayed in about fifteen different Wyndham properties over the years, and found that Wyndham Governor’s Green did not disappoint. The two bedroom units were spacious and clean with updated furnishings and fixtures. They were equipped as you usually find in Wyndham properties, with a whirlpool tub in the master suite, a washer and dryer inside the unit and a fully equipped kitchen. Also of note was the friendly front-desk staff when we checked in. There is nothing like some sweet tea in the lobby and gracious staff to make you realize that you are entering the south, even if you are just a couple of hours from Washington, D.C.

This resort has two outdoor pools and one indoor pool. The larger outdoor pool also has the indoor pool adjacent to it, a children’s pool and two hot tubs (one indoor and one outdoor). The exterior of the resort was undergoing some repairs, but none of the work interfered with our plans or interrupted us in any way. Otherwise, the grounds were beautiful, and all of the kids (young and old alike) enjoyed the ducks and frogs that visited the pond outside our villas on a daily basis.

But perhaps the best part of Wyndham Governor’s Green is the location. This was our second visit
to Williamsburg and we enjoyed it even more than the first time. The “Historic Triangle” includes the historic areas of Williamsburg, Jamestown (the site of the first English settlement in North America) and Yorktown (where the British surrendered following the Revolutionary War). For history buffs, there might be no better place to vacation (in fact, we think this area should be on the required travel list for all Americans). We certainly enjoyed trekking through the historic sites and learning so many interesting facts about the first settlers and also about Colonial America.
If history isn’t your thing, Williamsburg is also home to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. Busch Gardens is a theme park with European flair, filled with over 50 roller coasters, rides and other thrill-seeking attractions. Water Country USA has more than 40 waterslides and is the largest outdoor waterpark in Virginia. And if traffic cooperates, Virginia Beach and Norfolk are less than 90 minutes away. All in all, there is really no excuse to say you are bored when you are in the Williamsburg area, there is just too much to see and do – even during a 10 day trip! Needless to say, we look forward to returning again to Wyndham Governor’s Green.

Wyndham’s Margaritaville Resort Set to Open Next Month

st-thomasVery few things can top the refreshing sensation of a crisp margarita on a hot summer day. One thing that could, however, is sipping that sweet margarita on the beach in St. Thomas while staying in an entire luxury resort dedicated to your salty beverage.

Sound too good to be true? It isn’t. Wyndham Vacation Ownership announced this month that their Margaritaville resort will be ready for residents as early as mid-August.

Wyndham has partnered with Jimmy Buffet on the Margaritaville project, based in sunny Smith Bay in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Although the project has been in the works for some time, this month Wyndham announced that the resort will strictly be a timeshare resort, exclusively for Vacation Club owners.

cocktail-margaritaThe resort has 62 studio and studio deluxe unites, as well as eight presidential suites. Resort amenities include beach access in Water Bay, the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar, a beachside Margaritaville restaurant, water sports and more.

“Phase one units are receiving the finishing touches, like furnishings, electronics and decor,” said spokeswoman Lindsay Hodges in a recent interview. “Landscaping is about 80 percent complete.”

This project has been a long time coming. Wyndham St. Thomas Development LLC bought the property for $31 million back in 2007. But, it wasn’t until 2013 that the corporation announced it would partner with Jimmy Buffett to create this salty beach getaway.

Phase two should be completed in 2016 as part of a three-year plan that was decided when Buffett joined the project. All in all, the project is estimated to cost more than $100 million equaling 262 condo units for timeshare ownership.

The second phase will convert the hillside hotel rooms into the remaining condo units.

The property began with 290 hotel rooms and some original structures, but Wyndham is choosing to completely reconstruct some of the main buildings, as opposed to renovate them, to create a fresher, modern look for their guests.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts: It’s Time to Take a Second (or First) Look

Wyndham Vacation Resorts, long passed over in favor of Marriott’s extensive Vacation Club inventory, is worth taking a second (or first) look. Wyndham has a large network of resorts in North America and is actively expanding their presence in some exciting destinations such as Taiwan and Australia.

A quick glance at a map of Wyndham properties tells you that they have a strong North American presence. Whether you want to be on the west coast, Wyndham_Floridaeast coast or anywhere in between, chances are Wyndham has a property for you. Wyndham Vacation Resorts has Club Wyndham Plus Resorts in locations such as Daytona Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach, San Diego, and three of Hawaii’s islands. For the theme park crowd there are strong offerings in both the Anaheim and Orlando areas. And for those who hunt powder in the winter, Wyndham has resorts in Lake Tahoe, Colorado and a new resort in Park City, a ski-in, ski-out all condominium property at the Canyons Resort by Vail.

Club Wyndham Plus Resorts properties offer the traditional timeshare resort experience, with Wyndham_Poolstudios, one or two bedroom units. Some properties also offer three and four bedroom units. Upgraded units with the designation “presidential unit” are offered in some locations, these units typically include upgrades in the unit size and finishes. Most Club Wyndham Plus resort properties have at least one pool on-site, many have other amenities, including additional pools, hot tubs, game rooms, mini-golf courses, playgrounds and other family friendly features. Many Club Wyndham Plus properties also offer programming for those who wish to focus their vacation on the property.

Wyndham uses a points system for Club Wyndham Plus reservations, offering a great deal of flexibility for owners in booking the vacation of their choice. The amount of points needed for a reservation varies according to the unit size, season and property itself. But the average ownership available on the resale market can get you a two-bedroom unit at many Wyndham properties for one week during Prime Season.

The best news of all is that on the resale market, Wyndham is an attractive option for buyers. Most Wyndham ownerships sell for pennies per point, netting you an annual vacation for an affordable price. With a large network of resorts in some of the most popular destinations in the US, Wyndham Wyndham_Vacationmight be the hottest deal available in the Timeshare Resale market . And if you are already a Wyndham timeshare owner and you have had your years of fun, but are now ready to sell, there couldn’t be a better time. Premier Timeshare Resale can sell your Wyndham timeshare for you. We’ll do all the work from finding a buyer to ensuring it’s closed properly and transferred by Wyndham.

Olympic Hosts—Did Someone Say Missouri?

That’s right; the 1904 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the III Olympiad, were hosted in St. Louis, Missouri. They lasted four and a half months from start to finish, and the competitions were much of a side-show to the World’s Fair. Lost in the chaos of more popular exhibitions, the 1904 Summer Games were somewhat of a flop. But maybe you get what you pay for; that is, St. Louis rather swept the rug (and the Olympic Games) out from under the feet of Chicago, IL, the official winner of the Olympic bid. Apparently, the organizers of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (that chaotic multi-exhibit fair) informed the Chicago planning committee that their own international sports events would eclipse the Olympic Games unless they were moved to St. Louis. Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement, gave in and handed them over to St. Louis.

St. Louis may seem like a strange choice more than a hundred years later, but it is one of the largest cities in the Midwest and one rooted in the industrial tradition. Travelers to the border town will find a thriving hipster counter-culture and a slow-food movement for all the foodies interested in home-grown, hormone free eatables. But while St. Louis is not exactly a relaxation destination, several other spots in Missouri are.

Branson, for example, is nicknamed the Live Entertainment Capital of the World. With numerous entertainment theaters, Branson draws tourists from all over the Midwest and invites them to partake in attractions such as the Hollywood Wax Museum, wineries, cave tours, and the Titanic Museum, a half-scale replica of the famous ship and iceberg. Branson timeshare resales abound, too, with varying levels of luxury and affordability. Marriott, Westgate, Wyndham and Worldmark all have timeshare properties in Branson, and if you’re interested, inquire with PTR about Branson Timeshare Resales Today.

Osage Beach and Lake Ozark are twin towns on a large lake in northwest Missouri, and feature getaway accommodations on the beach or with fabulous lake views. Hiking, fishing, barbequing or just sunbathing in the beautiful Ozarks can’t be beat for a more laid back vacation. The Four Seasons and Worldmark timeshare resales in Lake Ozark and Osage Beach are some of the better known properties available.

Yep, we said Missouri! Maybe you had something else in mind for your next vacation, but we strongly recommend taking a second look at the affordable and charming (and surprisingly cosmopolitan) options to be found here with Missouri timeshare resales.

The Independent Tourist

Destination and Point of Origin: Asia

Our last post was about India, and in this one, China takes the spotlight. Globally, more than half the world’s population resides in Asia, and their economies, policies and trends are worth paying attention to. Sometimes as Americans we tend to have an insular point of view, but changes in the last fifty years in levels of personal and financial freedom have given rise to more mobility for millions across the continent, and the Chinese are no exception.

Who’s Traveling Where

In fact, China has overtaken Germany and the USA as the world’s biggest spenders on travel, with Chinese travelers spending $102 billion on international travel in 2012, an increase of over 40% on 2011.

Trends also reveal that most international travelers from China travel alone, rather than in groups, and that their destinations of choice include countries such as Australia, France, New Zealand, USA, Switzerland, the UK, and Canada. As such, these countries tourist and hotel industries are poised to gain much from the Chinese, most of whom travel for leisure over business.

The Impact

The big deal about these facts and figures is that travel and accommodation industries would do well to expand their marketing strategies to reach this rapidly growing population through online and social media channels. The big companies like Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Westin, and Wyndham already have some marketing strategies in place, but most have a long way to go in order to better capitalize on this exploding industry to adapt facilities and services to more extensively cater to the world’s largest market of travelers.

As big hoteliers rush to accommodate the influx of Chinese tourists, you may or may not notice some changes in your affiliations with them. Room prices may rise, given the increased demand, and timeshare owners or rewards members with the company may find their links to the companies more valuable in terms of savings and stability.

Destination Nassau

The Bahamas aren’t so far away, but they seem like another world of adventure. Whether for travelers who prefer to stay within their realm of familiarity, or for globetrotters who like to get lost in back alleys to discover something new about local culture, Nassau offers a host of possibilities.

Some access Nassau by cruise, as it remains a major port of call for several cruise lines, but others prefer to make it their sole destination through commercial or private flights. And there’s no wonder why: with limitless white sand beaches and opportunities for watersports ranging from fishing, sailing, snorkeling, a waterpark, and more, water lovers flock to the island to enjoy the splash and sun.

Nassau also boasts exceptional golf and world-class spas, with upscale and designer shopping areas for a leisurely afternoon. Casinos and clubs dot the city’s skyline, providing night owls with their own late night playgrounds. And for foodies, Nassau offers a culinary delight of various local cooking courses and Bahamian cuisines. Take advantage of one of the many tours of distilleries, cigar rolling, and chocolate factories, or visit the Straw Market. A unique place to shop for handmade straw items like baskets, hats, bags and dolls, it’s a great way to experience a bit of culture and pick up unique souvenirs.

A longtime city of luxury, Nassau offers the best in accommodations for the discriminating traveler. Don’t worry: there are affordable options too. Wyndham and Sheraton both have established timeshare hotels on the island that accord with their brand names’ levels of comfort and style, but you can find a Best Western motel, too. Timeshare properties are a must in the Bahamas for vacationers who can’t stay away, and Harborside at Atlantis is a proven favorite.

With warm, mild weather, the Bahamas are a year-round destination, and close to the U.S., are relatively inexpensive from Miami, Galveston, Orlando, and other southern port cities. Don’t wait to plan your next vacation, but consider Nassau today for its luxury, brilliance and options where you can sample its laid back Caribbean lifestyle.

Premier Timeshare Resale has several Bahamas timeshare resale properties for sale. Browse current listings for timeshare resales in the Bahamas, inquire about one of the many of the Bahamas timeshare properties, or get an appraisal on a Bahamian property that you already own through our website.
