Hilton Grand Vacations Club Changes Required Nightly Points Values

hilton-grand-vacations-elara---jeff-cutlerHilton Grand Vacations Club (HGVC) will change the nightly points values required to book different nights during the week. The decision to realign nightly points values became a necessity after HGVC acquired Diamond Resorts. This new methodology now applies consistently to all of the resorts in the unified club’s portfolio.

What are the New Nightly Points Values, and How Do They Compare?

Previous Nightly Points Rate

based on a 7-night stay

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun
Points % 10% 10% 10% 10% 20% 20% 20%

New Nightly Points Rate

based on a 7-night stay

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun
Points % 10% 10% 10% 20% 20% 20% 10%

Before the change, Monday through Thursday nights required 10% of the weekly points needed for a booking, whereas Friday to Sunday nights required 20% each.  After the change, Monday through Wednesday, as well as Sunday night, will require 10% each; whereas Thursday to Saturday will require 20% of the weekly points each.

Essentially, the only change is that requirements for Thursday and Sunday night stays are switched.  Instead of Thursday night taking 10% of the points, and Sunday night taking 20%, the percentages are reversed.

Important Note: The total weekly number of points required to make a reservation will not change.

When Will the Change Occur?

The change will be visible on the website starting January 1, 2024.  It will apply however only to bookings starting in 2024.  Therefore, for bookings made for 2024, the old methodology will apply.

How Will the Change Impact My Ownership?

If on owner books their stay for an entire week, the vacation will require the same number of points.  In this case, there would be no impact.

However, owners who prefer to use their points to book a weekend trip would see a change.  Before the change, a weekend trip with a Thursday check-in and Sunday checkout required 50% of the weekly points; now it will require 60% of the points.

Conversely, before the change, a weekend trip with a Friday check-in and Monday checkout required 60% of the weekly points; now it will require 50% of the points.  Bottom line, owners who wish to travel for a three-day weekend will find it more economical starting in 2025 to travel Friday to Monday instead of Thursday to Sunday.
