ptr-thumbnail-5Marriott Vacations Worldwide has recently announced the development of a new Marriott Vacation Club resort in Khao Lak, Thailand. This latest development project underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its resort portfolio following the announcement of the new Waikiki property and Marriott’s new City Collection.

Expansion into Khao Lak

During the Q1 earnings call, John Geller, CEO of Marriott Vacations Worldwide, revealed plans for this new resort. The project will feature a 60-unit Marriott Vacation Club resort co-located with an existing JW Marriott hotel in Khao Lak, which is expected to be the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa. This new resort will be the seventh Marriott Vacation Club in the Asia Pacific region, highlighting the area’s importance to the company.

I’m also happy to announce that we recently signed an agreement to develop a new 60-unit Marriott Vacation Club Resort in Thailand. The resort will be co-located with an existing JW Marriott hotel in Khao Lak and will include a new on-site sales gallery when it opens in a few years. This will be our seventh resort in the Asia Pacific region, and the team is busy working on other potential development opportunities around the world.

Strategic Importance of the Asia Pacific Region

Marriott’s new resort in Khao Lak aligns with the company’s broader expansion strategy in the Asia Pacific market, which continues to show strong growth potential. The co-location with a JW Marriott hotel allows timeshare owners to enjoy the luxurious amenities associated with the brand. The new facility will also include a modern on-site sales gallery to streamline sales operations.

Benefits for Timeshare Owners

For Marriott Vacation Club owners, the new resort represents an exciting opportunity to explore Khao Lak’s serene coastal environment. The addition of the on-site sales gallery further indicates Marriott’s commitment to enhancing its sales presence in the region, offering a seamless experience for current and potential timeshare owners.

Looking Ahead

As Marriott Vacations Worldwide expands its resort portfolio, timeshare owners can look forward to new vacation destinations and experiences. Whether or not Marriott intends to sell deeded weeks at these new and upcoming resorts, Marriott owners who are part of the new Abound program will be able to book these resorts using their Abound Club Points.
